Welcome to Coptic Literature in English!

My name is Dr. Frederic Krueger, I am a Coptologist from Berlin, Germany. On this website I share my translations of Coptic literary texts that I originally made both for my own research purposes and as part of my work as a lexicographer at the DDGLC project (Database and Dictionary of Greek Loanwords in Coptic). I belong to a group of scholars who have become increasingly convinced that most, if not all of the texts presented here (homilies, encomia, panegyrics in honor of various saints, angels, and their sanctuaries) are pseudepigraphical, were originally written in Coptic not Greek, and represent the post-Chalcedonian literary flourishing of the Miaphysite Church of Egypt in the late Byzantine and early Islamic period (the 6th to 8th centuries CE). Note that bold chapter and paragraph numbers are adopted from the edition used, while numbers in parentheses represent my own segmentation of the text.
